In 5th grade I changed school districts and discovered that my reading and writing was at a 2nd grade level. Fortunately, I had an amazing teacher who spent extra time bringing me up to speed. I also had to attend the “special reading” program while my school mates were out to recess. I hated the stigma associated with this, yet I overcame it.
When I was asked to write an article for the Healing Garden Journal in 1998, I was frozen with fear, but I did it anyway. Apparently, the editor liked what I submitted and requested a monthly column from me over the next three years when it was sold to another distributor!
Forty years later from struggling to read Run Jane Run, I am a published author and have written dozens of articles for various magazines. Thanks to the wonderful teachers who have guided, taught and encouraged me to learn, grow and challenge myself.
I hope you enjoy the archived library of articles. Please contact me if you wish to use these beyond your reading pleasure. I will be happy to grant you permission for other uses, all that I ask is that you ask. Happy reading, Barb
